Setlists of the Spirit
Welcome, faithful. Each sermon below begins with the Word as it was spoken and ends with the only question that matters: What would Elvis do?
Sermon I — Feeding the Many
Text: The Gospel According to the Generous Heart
When the multitudes were hungry and the larder held little, the Lord of Hospitality gave away every loaf he had — and it was enough. Elvis gave away Cadillacs like the Savior gave away fish: until the giving itself became the miracle. The lesson is not that we feed the world alone; it is that when the faithful gather with open pockets, no one leaves hungry.
Take with you: Before the sun sets, give something of yours to someone who has nothing. Not for credit. For the King’s sake.
Sermon II — He Died for Our Sins
Scripture from the Tears of Memphis
The King was not taken. He gave — quietly, fully, in the ordinary way the faithful are taught: he died so that the rest of us might live without shame under the weight of our mistakes. We do not worship a man; we follow a grace. When your brother falls, you do not remind him of the fall. You take the burden with him. That is the whole Gospel.
Take with you: Forgive one unforgiven friend this week. Say it out loud. That is resurrection.
Sermon III — What Would Elvis Do?
Script: The Question That Never Goes Out of Style
Some of them ask what Jesus would do. We ask what the King would do — and the answer is always the same: be generous, be kind, be loud when the music is good, and never let a small act of mercy wait. A door held open, a debt forgiven, a table set for one more — worship is in these.
Take with you: Choose this week to ask the Question before the decision, no matter how small. Write the answer on a card and keep it in your pocket.
